My 'current' PET peeve...
People who adopt an animal and then turn around and decide they no longer want to keep it and then go looking for a new home for the poor thing. Would they do this to their child if they could??? Makes you wonder.... Now you know when there is the possibility of moving, so why take a new pet into your home and then it has to go to another home. I feel so sorry for these pets. We moved from Arkansas to Maryland and then to Georgia and back to Arkansas with our Biscuit! When I looked for housing if they said they didn't accept pets then I just kept looking!! Biscuit even stayed in the Sheraton Hotel with us for over a month when we moved to Maryland...Oh yah that was fun! Down the elevator I'd go in the morning taking my 3 sons to school and we'd have Biscuit with us...and next to us in the elevator were men in 3 piece suits and briefcases! I can't even imagine the heartache it would have caused me and my family if we'd found her a new home just because we were moving...Biscuit was part of our family, she stayed with the boys when they were sick, she prototected me from strangers and she sang Happy Birthday with us when we celebrated! She could even say 'Mama' and those hearing her knew exactly what she was saying! Where ever we went she came with us. She absolutely loved to travel! And her favorite treat were Sonic tater tots! A couple of times when I'd have to go to Mtn. Home to be with my mom and aunt Terry and the boys would all have to work together to get everywhere they needed to be. Lance would take Biscuit and Buster to Sonic and get them their tater tots and then go pick Chris up from school....Chris would get so mad and humiliated because Biscuit would sit in the front seat and Chris would have to get in the back of the van with Buster! She had all of us wrapped around her paw! It's hard to believe she's been gone a year.....But 14 years was a long life and she lived it to the fullest! and left us with many happy memories.

To Paint or Not To Paint That Is The Question...
We've lived here for almost 2 years now..and I don't think the place was newly painted when we moved in. I'm starting, no I am, getting really sick of the same color walls in every room! So I've found some paint that I really like...on Craigslist of course..someone bought too much and is selling what they don't need really cheap! It's a color that I had considered for either our bedroom or the kitchen. Does that sound a little weird liking the same color for either the bedroom or kitchen? However, since we're only renting here is it worth the bother? Now I have wallpapered before in homes that we rented but we were renting with the intention of living there for quite a while. I have NO intention of being in this home for any long period of time..2 years is a while though isn't it?? Guess I should have painted 2 years ago! I can't get over to pick the paint up until Tuesday anyway...so I think I'll hold off on it and IF the person still has it on Tuesday afternoon that will be my 'sign' that I'm suppose to paint!

Proof that I love my husband...
I have finally done something that proves that I do love my husband! Giving birth to his 3 sons was a start..but today I did the one thing that truly says 'I love you'! I marinated and then cooked him deer meat steaks!!! and I will NEVER do it again!!! A while back a customer gave him a couple of venison steaks for his birthday. He came home with them and was soooo happy, I wasn't!! So finally this weekend I bought myself and who ever else in the family wanted a REAL steak some steaks and fixed hubby his. I prepared them separately..beef first! Then they sat in completely different air tight containers marinating all day, oh and they were on two totally different shelves also! I fixed the beef steaks first and then the venison...I didn't want my precious beef anywhere near Bambi! I have to admit I didn't think it would bother me as much as it did. I kept trying to tell myself it was 'beef' also...didn't quite work! I just kept seeing these beautiful creatures that hang out behind our house in Mtn. Home every morning! They are absolutely beautiful. During the winter this year we even had a baby sitting right by the front steps...she was just laying there waiting for her mama to get done eating. Then when we tried to get a picture she ran to her mama and off they went...absolutely gliding through the air. We never mention the herd that lives close to the home there because just as sure as anything we'd be hearing gun shots in our back yard! When I had my horses on the back of the property we had a field of clover and it still comes up so they are very well fed. One morning we finally lost count at 14 deer grazing early in the morning...it was so cool they were in the front and back of the property! So there will be NO more venison prepared at my house!

Lemon Cake Ecstacy
I'm not a big fan of lemon baked goods..but sometimes lemon cake is just really good! Several years ago my middle son baked a lemon cake and after frosting it we were called away from the house and we stuck it back in the oven. When we got around to finally eating it the frosting had glazed over the cake and oh my gosh it was the best ever!!! Since then we've tried and tried to duplicate this glaze effect. We finally got it right tonight!!!!! Oh my it was so heavenly moist and sweet!!!
Lance has missed his calling this kid can B.A.K.E!!! He use to WOW us with his baking abilities on a regular basis but we now have to beg for goodies.
Making this short so I can eat more cake before going to bed!!! Yuuuummmmmm

Grocery Shopping with Greedy Old People
I started out in a good mood..although once again woken up by the evil basset hound, Bailey. Hubby was reading the paper and asked if I wanted him to save the coupons...in the past I've clipped and clipped and then just ended up throwing them away because they've expired. So I mentioned that I don't understand how these people can buy $100 worth of grocery and end up paying .25!!?? How do they do this?? It seems like such a bother to watch the store adds and figure out what's on sale and what you coupons for and then go online and look for more savings....do these people not have a life?? But I did say perhaps some week I'll attempt this and make it a challenge to see if I can do it.
Well, I got an education from an 'elderly' couple. Age wise I'm guessing late 70's early 80's...which is actually looking younger every year! This couple harassed the meat guy who only comes in on Sunday to restock and mark-down the meat. They absolutely glued themselves to him and got everything he marked down! They even picked up packages and found fault with it so he would mark down what they wanted. They let no one else get even close. The man was keeper of the cart and blocked everyone else while she looked like another appendage of the meat guy. After they 'stole' all the meat they hit the cheese and canned bread area (the canned biscuits and such). They went through every item in these areas and looked for the ones either out of date or getting ready to be and pulled them from the area and set them in a separate cart..then proceeded to have an employee come back and mark it all down...again woman attached herself to the employee while the old coot man blocked with the cart. We were at the frozen food section when here they came...she says to me 'I left you some cheese back there.' I didn't know if I should be pissed by her comment or what...I felt gratified that possibly she felt the daggers I was sending her way!!! So I quickly headed back before someone else came upon the items...she left 3 bags of shredded mozzarella chesse..marked down to .89!!! Now I was grateful for the savings...but still pissed at their greed!!! If it had been a young couple with a family to feed I would feel differently...but these old coots only had themselves to look after. When I checked out she was in the next line over and besides all the markdowns she got here she came out with all her coupons!!!! The store wasn't busy so when she left I asked the cashier that checked her out how much she saved and he said a little over $8. in coupons but a huge amount in the markdowns...old coots! Their bill came to $45 (I over heard the amt.) Then the guy says 'They're a pain in the butt, they come in a couple of times a month and go through their shelves and ask for everything to be marked down.) So I ask..what's the deal are they feeding grandchildren..and both cashiers tell me where they live and it's only the two of them and several huge freezers in their garage! Infact, my cashier tells me they are her neighbors and their kids and grandchildren won't even have anything to do with them because they don't like kids! She said one of her own boys went over and offered to mow their lawn for $10, he was trying to earn extra money for Bible camp...they out right told him NO...but then turned around and hired an elderly man to mow their property for $50! Her comment was 'they never got another Christmas card from us'!
Ummm...this blog could turn out to be very useful...I may not simmer over this the rest of the day and raise my blood pressure even more....oh let's face it...I'm be miffed for a while!

Rainy Saturday
Okay, so I attempted to change the layout on my blog all evening yesturday...no go! So the youngest son is supposedly going to help good ol mom today with it. But, I decide I'll go ahead and enter a post for this morning..HA! This was fun, everything I typed then translated itself into Hindi...yes, Hindi. You know your a real idiot when this happens!! However it only took me about 20 minutes and a lot of cussing to figure out what I needed to disable. However, I did learn something in this but whether I'll ever use it is another story...mabye some time you'll be reading a post in someother language...please call the people in white coats at that time!
So Bailey (our basset), who you'll see a pic. of someday, whenever I learn how to ad pics to this thing! decides that I've overslept this morning at 6 a.m. No she dosen't wake hubby up who is the one who has to get up and go to work most days...she wakes me up..I am so lucky! She finally stops digging at my head and decides to stand on me! A body can only take so much of this from a very heavy basset! So I get up, go start the coffee (we turn the auto off on weekends for the purpose of sleeping in!), make sure the dogs, cats and birds all have fresh water and I sit down to get on-line and catch up on e-mails and read the Baxter Bulletin (hometown newspaper, I check to see who's died, oh my gosh I'm at that age!!), however, the 'it's time to get up mom' Bailey decides she's tired now and gets in my lap and falls promptly asleep!!!! Where have I gone wrong with this hound??? She has to take take a daily nap on my lap every afternoon, she has to sleep between hubby and I and was the reason for going from a queen size bed to a king size bed. We got through 3 kids without ever having even one of them sleep with us..so proud of ourselves and have bragged to friends and family about our accomplishment....we rescue one basset and it all goes out the door! Please someone explain this to me!
Hubby has off this weekend and here it is raining! Even my plans of shampooing carpets is a no-go now. Ummm....maybe I can convince him to step foot in the garage and do some re-arranging!!! I think I counted about 15 medium size boxes that still need to be unpacked from our move back here almost 2 years ago! I need a dresser moved into the garage...that would get one of the 'men' off their butts to help move it!!! This could turn into a productive day...oh who am I kidding?? We'll find a movie to watch and then one movie will lead to another and so forth....and then what would a rainy day be without an afternoon nap?
Time for another dose of caffeine....maybe if I drink enough coffee this morning I'll be so wired from it I will accomplish something on a rainy Saturday!

It's my first time..
Wow, I'm feeling like I'm getting somewhere now on the wonderful world of the net!! Finally entering the blogging world. I don't even think my web savy sons are blogging!!! Ummm, maybe they are and I should do some searching.
Now if you think the title of my blog is a little weird...let me explain. I have 3 sons. ALL in college, ages 23, 22 and 20...now wouldn't you think that one of them would start thinking about moving out...well not my boys!!! I guess we just make it too easy on them. Now I'm not complaining because they are all doing really well with college but...some mom and dad time would be nice too! When I decided to go ahead and start this blog thing I was sitting in the living room watching the NCAA basketball games with the 3 of them....and this came to to mind as we were watching games and discussing other things.
So we'll see how this goes...it might be a good outlet and way to keep in contact with friends and family (well selected family that is)!
